'Cowboys & Aliens'
Two of the worlds biggest action movie stars come together for a Sci-fi/Western film, not everyday you hear those word, but here we have Jon Favreus latest out-put. The Swingers actor turned director has carved out a pretty decent niche for doing action movies, of course with the Ironman franchise he has raked in a lot of money at the box office.
This film see Craig at the start wake up in the middle of nowhere, not knowing where he is and who he is. He finds the nearest town, and causes a stir where it is ruled by Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford), The town is soon under attack from the mysterious ships from outer space. Throughout the movie Craig's character, slowly remembers who he is, with the aid of the of Ella (Olivia Wilde). A posse is rounded up to find loved ones who at abducted by the aliens.
This is quite an enjoyable film of epic action scenes and emotion. Ford is the obvious standout who at first you think is an evil lonely, selfish old man, but you kinda warm towards the character as the story grows. The old Harrison charm shines through. I find Craig frustrating and his acting wooden, always a must do better.
The supporting cast is a strong one, with the likes of Sam Rockwell and Paul Dano on board, it's hard to dislike this movie. The Only thing i found is that in the a couple of scenes, there was an awful lot going on and could be a little difficult to keep up.
The story is well rounded and the effects at very nicely done, with it not being not too over the top. Favreaus has done a very good job here and really knows what will pull people into the cinema for the summer blockbuster season.
People who still you off going to see this, plhave nightmares about the terrible 'Wild Wild West', don't let that put ease do.
3.5 out of 5
